Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 3/4 c
- cinnamon - 1/4 tsp
- eggs - 2 item
- vanilla - 1/2 tsp
- butter or margarine - 1/2 c
- salt - 1/4 tsp
- flour - 2 c
- brown sugar - 1/4 c
- nutmeg - 1/2 tsp
- confectioners sugar
- baking powder - 3 tsp
- molasses - 1/4 c
- raisins - 1/2 c
- margarine
- grated orange peel - 1 tsp
- chopped black walnuts - 1 c
- orange juice - 1/2 c
- dash of cloves - 1 item
How to make black walnut cake:
Frosting:3 Tbsp. margarine2 1/2 c. confectioners sugar orange juice1 tsp. vanilla Cake: Cream together butter, sugar and brown sugar until fluffy. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well. Combine orange juice, molasses, orange peel and vanilla. Sift dry ingredients together; add alternately with orange juice mixture. Stir in walnuts and raisins. Pour into a greased and floured 9 x 9 x 2-inch pan. Bake at 350° for 40 to 45 minutes. Cool.Frosting: Cream margarine. Gradually add 1 1/4 cups sifted confectioners sugar, blending well. Beat in 2 tablespoons juice plus 1 teaspoon vanilla. Gradually blend in another 1 1/4 cups sifted confectioners sugar. Add just enough juice to allow the frosting to spread easily.
