sugar - 1/2 c
cinnamon - 1 tsp
vanilla - 1 tsp
salt - 1 tsp
brown sugar - 3/4 c
baking soda - 1 tsp
egg - 1 item
all-purpose flour
nutmeg optional - 1/4 tsp
butter half butter/half Crisco

How to make best oatmeal cookies:

Mix butter, Crisco, brown sugar and sugar. Add egg and mix. Add vanilla, flour, baking soda, salt, cinnamon and nutmeg. Place on ungreased cookie sheet by rounded tablespoon. Bake at 375° for 8 to 9 minutes for chewy cookies or 10 to 11 minutes for crisp cookies. Cool 1 minute on cookie sheet before removing onto wire cooling rack. Makes 4 1/2 dozen.

Variations-Add any 1 or two (combo): 1 cup raisins, chopped nuts, semi-sweet chocolate, butterscotch or peanut butter chips.
