Best chocolate cake
Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 2 c
- vanilla - 1 tsp
- salt - 1 tsp
- water - 3/4 c
- soda - 1 tsp
- buttermilk - 3/4 c
- baking powder - 1/2 tsp
- shortening - 1/2 c
- all-purpose flour or cake flour - 2 c
- melted unsweetened chocolate, cooled - 4 oz
How to make best chocolate cake:
Heat oven to 350°. Grease and flour baking pans. You can use 13 x 9 x 2-inch or two 9-inch or three 8-inch round layer pans. Measure all ingredients into large mixing bowl. Blend for 1/2 minute on low speed, scraping bowl constantly. Beat for 3 minutes on high speed, scraping bowl occasionally. Pour evenly into pans.Bake oblong 40 to 45 minutes, layers 30 to 35 minutes or until wooden pick inserted into center comes out clean. Cool and frost with favorite frosting.
