Beef stroganoff
Ingredients/Components
- butter or margarine - 1/4 c
- salt - 1/2 tsp
- all-purpose flour - 1/4 c
- pepper - 1/4 tsp
- large onion, thinly sliced - 1 item
- can sliced mushrooms, drained - 1 oz
- can tomato soup undiluted - 1 3/4
- hot cooked egg noodles - 1 item
- commercial sour cream - 1/2 c
- round steak 1/2-inch thick - 1 (3
- can consomme undiluted - 1 1/2
How to make beef stroganoff:
Partially freeze steak, then slice across grain into 2 x 1/4-inch strips. Dredge steak in flour. Melt butter in a large skillet. Add meat and onion; cook until meat is browned. Stir in consomme, soup, mushrooms, salt and pepper. Reduce heat to low; cover and simmer for 30 to 45 minutes, or until meat is tender. Stir in sour cream; cook just until thoroughly heated.
