  • oleo - 1/2 c
  • lemon juice - 1/4 c
  • light brown sugar - 1/2 c
  • salad oil - 1 c
  • dry mustard - 1 tsp
  • Worcestershire sauce - 1/2 c
  • chili sauce - 2 Tbsp
  • cloves garlic, crushed - 2 item
  • onion, finely chopped - 1 item
  • bottle catsup - 14 oz
  • cayenne pepper - 1/4 tsp
  • drops Tabasco sauce - 3 item

How to make barbecue sauce for chicken:

Melt oleo in saucepan and add remaining ingredients, stirring constantly. Simmer for 15 minutes, stirring frequently. Sauce may be stored in tightly closed jar in refrigerator for 1 week. Marinate chickens 5 to 6 hours in sauce (or overnight), then barbecue over medium coals for 1 1/2 hours, turning and basting occasionally. Makes enough sauce for 2 to 3 whole chickens.
