  • chopped peanuts - 1/2 c
  • can crushed pineapple, well drained - 1 1/4
  • sliced fresh strawberries - 1 c
  • jar fudge ice cream topping - 1 to
  • 2-layer banana cake mix - 1 item
  • sweetened whipped cream or 6 oz - 2 c

How to make banana split cake:

Prepare cake mix as directed for 2-layer cake.

Divide whipped cream or dessert topping in half. Fold berries into half of the cream or topping. Fold drained pineapple into the other half.

In a small saucepan, heat and stir fudge ice cream topping over low heat just until warm.

Use a serrated knife to split each cake layer in half. Top first half of layer with strawberries-cream mixture, spreading to the edge of the cake. Place another layer of cake on top and spread with warm fudge topping, letting it drizzle down the sides. Sprinkle with half of the nuts.

Top with another layer of cake. Spread with the pineapple-cream mixture. Top with remaining cake layer. Spread remaining warm fudge mixture atop cake, letting some drip down sides of cake. Sprinkle with the remaining nuts.
