Banana nut cake
Ingredients/Components
- sugar
- eggs - 3 item
- salt - 1 tsp
- flour
- soda
- buttermilk - 1/3 c
- baking powder
- soft shortening - 2/3 c
- finely chopped nuts - 2/3 c
- mashed bananas about 3 *
- another 1/3 cup buttermilk
How to make banana nut cake:
Grease and flour two 9-inch or one 13 x 9-inch pan. Sift together first 5 ingredients. Add next 3 ingredients; beat 2 minutes. Add eggs and buttermilk. Beat 2 more minutes. Fold in nuts. Bake at 350° in 9-inch pans for 35 minutes or oblong pan for 45 to 50 minutes.*Be sure the bananas are very ripe. I use more bananas than this. It makes the cake moist and heavier, but takes a little longer to bake.
