Ingredients/Components

  • sugar - 1/4 c
  • salt - 1/4 tsp
  • flour - 3 Tbsp
  • cider vinegar - 2/3 c
  • hot water - 1 c
  • dry mustard - 2 tsp
  • onion, thinly sliced - 1 item
  • ground pepper - 1/4 tsp
  • grated Swiss cheese - 2/3 c
  • slices bacon - 6 item
  • 7 large red potatoes - 3 lb

How to make baked german potato salad:

Boil potatoes until tender. Peel, slice and place in a 2-quart greased casserole dish. Cook bacon until crisp. Reserve 1/4 cup drippings and set bacon aside. Add onions to drippings. Cook about 5 minutes. Add flour; cook 2 minutes. Whisk in water, vinegar, sugar, mustard, salt and pepper. Cook until thickened. Add bacon. Pour over potatoes and stir gently. Top with cheese. Bake at 375° for 35 to 45 minutes.
