Apple crumb pie
Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 3/4 c
- cinnamon - 1/2 tsp
- salt - 1/2 tsp
- flour - 1 c
- brown sugar - 1/2 c
- butter - 1/2 c
- nutmeg - 1/8 tsp
- cold water - 1 3
- cloves - 1/8 tsp
- allspice - 1/8 tsp
- shortening cold - 1/3 c
- to 7 apples, sliced very thin - 5 item
How to make apple crumb pie:
Crust: Cut shortening into 1 cup flour and 1/2 teaspoon salt. Add 1 to 3 tablespoons cold water until pastry holds together. Handle as little as possible. Roll out and place in pie pan.Pie Filling: Combine 3/4 cup sugar, 2 tablespoons flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice, cloves, salt and apples. Mix lightly and heap in pastry-lined pan.
Crumb Topping: Blend butter, brown sugar and 1 cup flour with pastry blender and sprinkle over apples. Bake at 400° for 45 to 55 minutes.
