Ingredients/Components

  • sugar - 2 Tbsp
  • milk - 3/4 c
  • salt - 1 tsp
  • flour - 2 c
  • soda - 1/4 tsp
  • baking powder
  • shortening - 1/2 c
  • yeast - 1 pkg

How to make angel biscuits:

Dissolve yeast in 2 tablespoons lukewarm water. Let stand 5 minutes. Sift dry ingredients together in a bowl. Cut in shortening with pastry blender until crumbly. Add yeast to milk. Mix well. Add to flour mixture, stirring slowly with a fork.

Turn dough onto floured surface. Knead. Roll on floured surface to 1/2-inch thickness. Cut with biscuit cutter. Place on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake at 450° for 10 to 12 minutes. Top with butter and honey. Yields 2 dozen.
