Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 1/2 c
- shortening - 1 c
- whole wheat flour - 1 c
- all-purpose flour - 4 c
- buttermilk - 2 c
- dry yeast - 1 pkg
- warm water - 1/4 c
- salt - 1 tsp
- baking soda - 1 tsp
- pinch of sugar - 1 item
How to make angel biscuits:
Preheat oven to 400°. Dissolve yeast in warm water to which a pinch of sugar has been added. Set aside. Combine all flour, soda, salt and sugar. Cut in shortening. Add yeast and buttermilk. Knead enough to hold together. Roll out 1/2 inch thick and cut. Bake 15 to 20 minutes. Yields 2 dozen.Recipe categories: Breads, Rolls/biscuits, Yeast breads.
