- butter or margarine, melted - 1/4 c
- large apples, peeled, cored and sliced - 2 item
- packed brown sugar - 1/3 c
- egg - 1 item
- baking soda - 1 tsp
- ground ginger - 1 tsp
- salt - 1/2 tsp
- hot tea - 3/4 c
- molasses - 1/2 c
- sugar - 1/2 c
- all-purpose flour - 2 c
- ground cinnamon - 1 tsp
- ground cloves - 1/2 tsp
- ground nutmeg - 1/4 tsp
How to make upside-down apple gingerbread:
Gingerbread:1/2 c. butter or margarine, melted1/3 c. packed brown sugar1 egg1 tsp. baking soda1 tsp. ground ginger1/2 tsp. salt3/4 c. hot tea1/2 c. molasses1/2 c. sugar2 c. all-purpose flour1 tsp. ground cinnamon1/2 tsp. ground cloves1/4 tsp. ground nutmeg Pour butter into a 9-inch square baking pan. Arrange apples over butter; sprinkle with brown sugar and set aside. For gingerbread, combine butter, molasses, sugars and egg in mixing bowl; mix well. Combine dry ingredients; add to sugar mixture alternately with hot tea. Mix well, pour over apples. Bake at 350° for 45 to 50 minutes or until the cake tests done. Cool for 3 to 5 minutes.
