Ingredients/Components

  • sugar - 1/2 c
  • salt - 1 Tbsp
  • oil - 1/2 c
  • vinegar - 1/2 c
  • dry mustard - 1/2 Tbsp
  • pepper to taste - 1 item
  • celery seed - 1/2 Tbsp
  • chopped cabbage - 6 c
  • small onions, cut into rings - 2 item

How to make twenty-four hour slaw:

Layer onions and cabbage alternately in a deep bowl. Combine remaining ingredients except oil in a saucepan. Bring to a boil; remove from heat. Stir in salad oil. Pour evenly over vegetables. Do not stir. Chill in refrigerator overnight.
