  • milk - 1 c
  • salt - 3 tsp
  • water - 8 c
  • grated carrots - 1 c
  • pepper - 1/2 tsp
  • chopped onions - 1/2 c
  • sliced celery - 1 c
  • barley - 3/4 c
  • cubed potatoes - 2 c
  • beef cross cut - 2 lb

How to make stone soup:

In a large pot combine beef, water, salt and pepper; bring to a boil. Reduce heat; add the barley, celery, carrots, onions and potatoes. Simmer for two hours. After two hours stir in the milk and serve with bread. Serves 10 to 12.
