Ingredients/Components
- unbaked pie shell 9-inch - 1 item
- brown sugar - 3/4 c
- salt - 1 tsp
- cinnamon - 1/4 tsp
- nutmeg - 1/4 tsp
- ginger - 1/4 tsp
- cloves - 1/4 tsp
- evaporated milk - 2 Tbsp
- large eggs, separated - 3 item
- prepared squash
- coconut may use more or omit - 1/4 c
- Peel and remove inside
- sugar - 3 Tbsp
- cream of tartar - 1/2 tsp
How to make squash pie:
Use large squash. Peel and remove inside. Cube and simmer until done. Squeeze out all water and mash. Mix sugar, spices, salt and egg yolks. Stir in squash, milk and coconut. Pour in pie shell. Bake at 400° for 45 minutes.Topping: egg whites3 Tbsp. sugar1/2 tsp. cream of tartar Beat until stiff. Spread on pie. Brown in oven.Recipe categories: Desserts, Pie, Pies and tarts.
