Ingredients/Components
- sugar
- water - 1 c
- white vinegar - 2 c
- mustard seed - 1/2 tsp
- large onion - 1 item
- pickling spices - 1/2 tsp
- old cucumbers that have turned white and gone to seed - 1 item
How to make pickles:
Syrup:4 c. sugar2 c. white vinegar1 c. water1/2 tsp. mustard seed1/2 tsp. pickling spices Peel and cut out seeds from cucumbers. Cube and soak overnight in cold water in the refrigerator.Syrup: Bring syrup mixture to a boil. Add cucumbers and let come to a boil again. Boil for 3 minutes. Pack in hot jars. Add a slice of onion on top with 1/2 teaspoon salt per pint. Fill jar with hot boiling syrup and seal.
