Pepper steak
Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 1 tsp
- salt - 1/2 tsp
- cornstarch - 1 Tbsp
- cold water - 1/2 c
- ginger - 1/4 tsp
- pepper - 1/4 tsp
- clove garlic, minced - 1 item
- chopped onion - 1 c
- soy sauce - 1/4 c
- can whole tomatoes - 4 cut
- can drained bean sprouts - 1 lb
- large green pepper, cut in thin strips - 1 item
- round steak, cut in thin strips
How to make pepper steak:
Brown steak on medium heat slowly. Transfer cooking pot to heating base using hot pads. Combine ingredients, garlic, onion, salt, pepper, ginger, sugar and soy sauce. Pour over steak. Cover; slow cook at setting #3 for 6 to 8 hours or setting #4 for 4 to 5 hours.Add green pepper, tomatoes and bean sprouts. Slow cook an additional hour. Before serving increase heat to setting #5.
Combine cornstarch and water. Gradually add to Pepper Steak; stir until thickened. Keep warm for serving at setting #2. Serve with rice. Makes 4 to 6 servings.
