Ingredients/Components
- salt
- flour - 1 to
- buttermilk - 1 c
- baking powder - 1/2 tsp
- paprika - 1 Tbsp
- garlic powder - 1/2 tsp
- pepper - 1/2 tsp
- ground sage - 1/4 tsp
- ground thyme - 1/4 tsp
- onion powder - 1/2 tsp
- sunflower oil for frying - 1 item
How to make country fried chicken:
Wash and pat dry chicken. Place in large, flat dish. Pour buttermilk over chicken; cover and allow to soak at least 1 hour or overnight in the refrigerator. Combine coating ingredients in double strength paper bag. Shake chicken pieces one at a time. Lay coated pieces on wax paper for 15 minutes to allow coating to dry. Pour oil to 1/2 inch depth in electric skillet. Heat to 350° to 360°. Fry about 3 minutes on each side. Reduce heat to 320°. Cook chicken, turning occasionally, for 25 to 35 minutes or until juices are clear and chicken is tender.Recipe categories: Chicken, Main dish, Poultry.
