Orange slice cake
Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 2 c
- eggs - 4 item
- vanilla - 1 tsp
- salt - 1/2 tsp
- buttermilk - 1/2 c
- flaked coconut
- chopped dates - 8 oz
- baking soda - 1 tsp
- nuts - 2 c
- margarine - 1 c
- sifted flour plain
- orange slice candy, cut up - 1 lb
How to make orange slice cake:
Sift flour and salt, then set aside. Combine orange candy, dates, nuts and coconut. Add 1/2 cup of flour to this mix. Set aside. Work 1 cup of butter and sugar; beat well. Add eggs; beat well. Add baking soda and buttermilk. Now add flour and candy mix. Then mix well.Turn into a 10-inch angel food cake pan that has been greased and floured. Bake at 300° for 1 hour and 45 minutes. When done, leave in cake pan.
While hot, mix 1 or 2 cups of orange juice and 1 or 2 cups powdered sugar; mix well. Pour over cake. Put in fridge and let set overnight.
Note: While pouring orange juice over cake, take ice pick and make holes in cake.
