- sugar - 2 c
- eggs - 2 item
- vanilla - 2 tsp
- salt - 1 tsp
- flour - 4 c
- chopped dates - 2 c
- baking soda - 2 tsp
- boiling water - 2 c
- nuts - 1 2
- margarine - 8 Tbsp
How to make date nut bread:
Note: Mix in order.Preheat oven to 325°. Mix together water, dates and baking soda and set aside to cool. Cream together sugar, margarine and eggs. Add flour, vanilla and salt and mix well. Add the cooled date mixture last. Add nuts. Mix again. Bake 1 hour or until done in two well-greased loaf pans. Place a pan of water in the oven with this bread so the bread will stay moist the way it should be.
