Orange slice cake
Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 2 c
- eggs - 4 item
- salt - 1 tsp
- chopped nuts - 2 c
- buttermilk - 1/2 c
- all-purpose flour
- margarine - 1 c
- can coconut - 1 item
- box dates, chopped - 1 oz
- orange slice candy, cut up - 1 lb
- baking soda dissolve in milk - 1/2 tsp
- flour for nuts, candy, dates and coconut - 1/2 c
How to make orange slice cake:
Roll nuts, candy, dates and coconut in 1/2 cup of flour. Cream margarine and sugar; add salt to flour. Add flour alternately with milk to creamed mixture. Add nuts, etc. mixture to batter. Cook in well-greased and floured 10-inch tube pan (or 2 loaf pans) at 250° for 2 1/2 hours or cake shrinks from side of pan.Mix 1 cup orange juice and 2 cups confectioners sugar. Pour over cake as soon as cake is taken from the oven. Leave cake in pan overnight.
