Onions au gratin
Ingredients/Components
- milk
- butter or margarine - 4 Tbsp
- salt - 3/4 tsp
- flour - 4 Tbsp
- white pepper - 1/4 tsp
- grated American cheese - 3/4 c
- small onions or 3 cans, drained - 2 lb
How to make onions au gratin:
If using fresh onions, parboil for 10 minutes; drain and place in au gratin dish. Melt butter or margarine; stir in flour and mix until smooth. Stir in milk, salt and pepper. Stir constantly. Cook until thick; remove from heat and add grated cheese. Stir until cheese is melted. Pour over onions. Bake in a 350° oven for 45 minutes or until lightly brown and bubbly.Recipe categories: Low protein, Vegetables, Onions.
