- eggs - 2 item
- milk - 1 c
- salt - 1 tsp
- brown sugar - 1 c
- butter - 1 c
- soda - 1/2 tsp
- baking powder - 6 tsp
- molasses - 1 c
- sifted plain flour - 4 c
- mixed spices - 2 tsp
How to make molasses cake:
Cream butter and sugar. Stir in molasses, beaten with eggs. Re-sift flour with other dry ingredients. Add alternately with milk. Beat well after each addition until blended. Bake in a greased 9-inch tube pan in 350° oven about 45 minutes. This is delicious with apple butter as icing while cake is still warm.Recipe categories: Desserts, Cakes, Northeastern U.S..
