- sugar - 1 item
- crushed ice - 1 item
- bourbon - 1 item
- mint or spearmint - 1 item
How to make mint julep:
You will also need chilled glasses.For each serving, put a level teaspoonful of sugar in a chilled glass. Add several mint leaves and crush into the sugar with a spoon or a pestle, if you have one. Fill the glass with crushed ice and insert a straw. Pour over 1 ounce of bourbon and a sprig of mint. This is the way a Mint Julep is served at the Kentucky Derby. Let the ice melt to dilute the bourbon and sip verrrrry slowly. If you have no mint or spearmint on hand, go out into our Memorial Garden and pick all you want.
