Ingredients/Components

  • sugar
  • milk - 1 c
  • salt - 3/4 tsp
  • flour - 3 c
  • baking powder
  • shortening - 3/4 c
  • cream of tartar - 3/4 tsp
  • egg, lightly beaten - 1 item

How to make mile high biscuits:

Preheat oven to 450°.

Sift together flour, baking powder, cream of tartar, sugar and salt into a mixing bowl. With pastry blender, cut shortening into flour mixture until mixture resembles coarse meal. Add beaten egg to milk. Add liquid mixture to dry ingredients and mix with a fork until dough holds together. Turn onto floured board and roll out to 1-inch thickness. Cut into biscuits with cutter. Place on greased cookie sheet and bake for 12 minutes.
