Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 2 c
- milk - 1 c
- flour
- butter - 1 c
- egg yolks - 8 item
- coconut - 1 c
- baking powder - 3 tsp
- nuts
- raisins - 1 c
- egg whites, beaten - 8 item
- vanilla optional - 1 tsp
- grape juice or wine - 3/4 c
How to make lane cake:
Filling:1 c. nuts1 c. coconut1 c. raisins1/2 c. butter2 c. sugar8 egg yolks3/4 c. grape juice or wine Cake: Beat egg whites until they form peaks, but not dry. Set aside. Cream butter and sugar; blend well. Sift flour and baking powder together; add to creamed mixture alternately with milk. Fold in beaten egg whites; blend well. Bake in 4 layer pans at 350° until done when tested with a toothpick (cakes will pull away from sides).Filling: Grind the nuts, coconut and raisins. Put the mixture in a saucepan with the butter, sugar and egg yolks. Cook over medium heat for 15 to 20 minutes, or until it thickens. Stir constantly; it will scorch. Remove from heat; add grape juice, then spread on layers.
