Kentucky pound cake
Ingredients/Components
- vanilla - 1 tsp
- chopped pecans - 1 c
- granulated sugar - 2 c
- stick margarine - 1 item
- brown sugar
- eggs, separated - 4 item
- evaporated milk - 1/4 c
- vegetable oil
- can crushed pineapple - 1 oz
- self-rising flour
- allspice
How to make kentucky pound cake:
Glaze:1 c. brown sugar1/4 c. evaporated milk1 stick margarine1 tsp. vanilla Preparation time: 20 minutes. Cooking time: 1 1/2 hours. Bake cake in a cold oven. Grease and flour a 10-inch tube pan and set aside. In a large bowl, combine flour, sugar, oil, pineapple, pecans, egg yolks and allspice; mix well. In another bowl, beat egg whites until stiff peaks form. Fold egg whites into other ingredients until well blended. Pour into pan and bake for 1 1/2 hours at 300°. When cake is almost done, make the glaze. In a saucepan, combine the brown sugar, milk, margarine and vanilla. Bring to a boil and let boil for 5 minutes, stirring constantly. Pour over hot cake.
