  • granulated sugar - 1 Tbsp
  • buttermilk - 3/4 c
  • baking powder
  • baking soda - 1/2 tsp
  • melted butter - 1 Tbsp
  • all-purpose flour - 2 c
  • margarine - 1/2 c

How to make kentucky biscuits:

Mix flour, baking powder, baking soda and sugar in a mixing bowl. Cut in margarine until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Add buttermilk. Mix quickly to make a soft dough. Turn onto lightly floured surface; knead a few times to make a soft dough. Roll out to a 6 x 6-inch square. Place on ungreased baking sheet. With knife, cut dough into 12 even portions. Do not separate. Bake at 400° until golden. Brush with butter.
