Ingredients/Components

  • sugar - 1/2 c
  • eggs - 2 item
  • sour cream - 1/2 pt
  • salt
  • soda
  • baking powder - 2 tsp
  • soft butter - 4 Tbsp
  • box raisins - 1/2 item
  • presifted flour - 2 c

How to make irish soda bread:

Mix flour, baking powder, salt and baking soda; set aside. Mix butter and sugar. Add eggs, raisins and sour cream; stir. Stir in dry ingredients. Batter will be stiff. Bake in greased loaf pan at 350° for about 1 hour or until top is golden brown. Wrap and slice bread the next day. Also freezes well.

You may use caraway seeds in place of raisins if you wish.
