Ingredients/Components
- milk - 1/2 c
- salt - 1 tsp
- baking powder
- sifted flour - 1/2 c
- beaten egg - 1 item
- cornmeal
- pepper - 1/4 tsp
- finely chopped onion - 1/3 c
- melted fat or oil - 3 Tbsp
How to make hush puppies:
Sift dry ingredients together. Add remaining ingredients and stir only until blended. Drop by tablespoon into deep fat (350°) and fry for 2 to 3 minutes or until golden brown. Drain on absorbent paper. Makes 18 hush puppies.Recipe categories: American, Side dish, Southern u.s..
