Hush puppies

Ingredients/Components

• milk - 1/2 c
• salt - 1 tsp
• baking powder
• sifted flour - 1/2 c
• beaten egg - 1 item
• cornmeal
• pepper - 1/4 tsp
• finely chopped onion - 1/3 c
• melted fat or oil - 3 Tbsp

How to make hush puppies:

Sift dry ingredients together. Add remaining ingredients and stir only until blended. Drop by tablespoon into deep fat (350°) and fry for 2 to 3 minutes or until golden brown. Drain on absorbent paper. Makes 18 hush puppies.
