Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 1 Tbsp
- milk - 3/4 c
- salt - 1/2 tsp
- baking powder - 2 tsp
- all-purpose flour - 1/2 c
- egg, beaten - 1 item
- cornmeal
- small onion, chopped fine - 1 item
How to make hush puppies:
Combine dry ingredients. Add egg and milk, mixing lightly. Stir in chopped onions. Drop batter by spoonful into deep hot fat, frying only a few at a time. Cook until golden brown.Recipe categories: American, Side dish, Southern u.s..
