Ingredients/Components

  • salt - 1 Tbsp
  • flour - 1/3 c
  • water - 1 c
  • oil - 1/3 c
  • vinegar - 1/3 c
  • dry mustard - 2 tsp
  • paprika - 3 Tbsp
  • caraway seed - 2 tsp
  • hamburger meat - 4 lb
  • peppercorns - 20 item
  • bay leaves - 3 item
  • stalks celery, cut in 1/2 - 6 item
  • medium onions, cut in 1/2 - 3 item
  • large carrots, cut in 1/2 - 4 item

How to make goulash:

Combine flour, salt, paprika, and mustard. Roll meat in flour mixture. Brown meat slowly in hot oil. Sprinkle remaining flour mixture over meat. Add remaining ingredients. Cover and simmer for 1 1/2 to 2 hours. Then remove vegetables and bay leaf. Pack meat into jars, leaving 1/2 inch headspace. Cover with sauce, 1 pint 1 hour, 1 quart 1 hour and 15 minutes at 10 pounds pressure.
