Ingredients/Components
- salt - 1 tsp
- all purpose flour - 3 c
- oil - 1 Tbsp
- baking powder - 2 tsp
- warm milk
- Vegetable oil for deep frying - 1 item
How to make fry bread:
Preparation time 20 minutes. Resting time 30 minutes. Cooking time 4 minutes per batch. Yield: 10 to 12 pieces.1. Stir together flour, milk, baking powder and salt in large bowl. Knead until smooth on lightly floured surface. Rub oil over dough. Cover; let sit 30 minutes.
2. Pull off 10 to 12 equal pieces of dough; pat or roll out dough on lightly floured surface to form 1/4 8 inch thick circles. 3. Heat 2 inches of oil in Dutch oven, heavy kettle or deep-fat fryer to 380°. Drop 1 to 2 pieces of dough at a time into hot oil, gently keeping immersed with tongs, until golden and crisp, about 2 minutes each side. Remove with slotted spoon; drain on paper towels. Keep warm in 200° oven.
