Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 2/3 c
- vanilla - 1 tsp
- salt - 1/2 tsp
- nutmeg - 1/4 tsp
- 9-inch unbaked crust - 1 item
- scalding hot milk
- eggs or 8 egg yolks - 4 item
How to make custard pie:
Heat oven to 450°. Beat egg slightly. Then beat in remaining ingredients. Pour into crust. Bake 15 minutes, then reduce heat to 350°. Bake 10 to 15 minutes more. Insert knife 1-inch from side of filling to test. If knife comes out clean, custard is done. Center will be soft, but will set up as custard cools.
