Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 1/4 c
- salt - 1 tsp
- flour - 4 c
- melted butter - 1 item
- shortening - 1/2 c
- warm water
- dry yeast - 1 pkg
- c milk - 1 item
- herbs to taste - 1 item
How to make crescent dinner rolls:
Dissolve yeast in warm water and add a pinch of sugar to feed the yeast. Melt the shortening in the milk; add sugar and stir to dissolve. Cool. Stir in and knead in as necessary the flour and salt mixture. Refrigerate overnight covered.Divide the dough into 4 parts. Roll out each part into a circle and cut into 8 pie wedge shaped pieces. Brush on melted butter and sprinkle herbs. Roll from the wide edge to point forming a crescent shape. Brush with melted butter or milk. Let rise 1 hour. Bake at 350° for about 12 minutes. Makes 32 rolls.
