Chocolate meringue pie
Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 3/4 c
- flour - 4 Tbsp
- cocoa - 4 Tbsp
- salt - 1/4 tsp
- milk - 1 c
- eggs, separated - 4 item
- stick butter - 1/2 item
- vanilla - 1 tsp
- cream of tartar - 1/4 tsp
- baked pie shell - 1 item
How to make chocolate meringue pie:
Mix sugar, salt, flour and cocoa well in a medium saucepan. Stir in milk gradually until smooth. Cook over medium low heat until mixture comes to a boil and thickens, stirring constantly. Remove from heat and add butter and vanilla. Let stand. Meanwhile, beat egg yolks and add a little of cooked mixture. Blend well, then add egg mixture to the cooked mixture. Stir until you have the right consistency. Pour filling into cooled baked pie shell; cover with meringue. Bake at 325° for 12 to 15 minutes.Meringue: Beat egg whites until fluffy at high speed. Add 6 tablespoons sugar, one at a time, beating after each addition. Continue beating until mixture stands in peaks. Add cream of tartar. Beat well.
