Chocolate chip torte
Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 1 c
- vanilla - 1 tsp
- pkg - 1 oz
- salt - 1/2 tsp
- chopped nuts - 1 c
- flour
- butter - 1/2 c
- soda - 1 tsp
- cocoa - 2 Tbsp
- eggs, beaten - 2 item
- boiling water - 1 c
- shortening - 1/2 c
- dates, chopped fine - 1 c
How to make chocolate chip torte:
Add together dates, boiling water and soda. Sift flour, cocoa and salt. Cream shortening and sugar; beat until fluffy. Add eggs alternately. Add flour and date mixture, blending well after each addition. Add vanilla. Spread in greased 13 x 9 1/2-inch pan. Sprinkle with nuts and chocolate chips on top of cake. Bake at 350° for 45 minutes.
