Applesauce fruitcake
Ingredients/Components
- sugar
- butter/margarine - 1 c
- cinnamon - 2 tsp
- cloves - 1 tsp
- Quaker oats, uncooked - 1 c
- eggs, beaten - 2 item
- dark raisins - 1 c
- finely chopped dates - 1 c
- allspice - 1 tsp
- sifted all-purpose flour
- soda
- salt
- finely chopped candy cherries - 1/2 c
- finely chopped walnuts - 1/2 c
- canned sweetened applesauce - 2 c
How to make applesauce fruitcake:
Cream sugar, butter and spices until light and fluffy. Sift together flour, soda and salt. Reserve 1 cup flour mixture. Stir in oats. Add flour and oats mixture to creamed mixture alternately with eggs. Toss fruits and nuts with reserved cup of flour until well coated. Blend applesauce and fruit mixture into batter. Pour into greased 10-inch tube pan. Bake at 325° for about 1 1/2 hours.Recipe categories: Desserts, Cakes, Fruit.
