Ingredients/Components
- salt - 1 tsp
- baking powder - 4 tsp
- shortening - 5 tbsp
- Cup sugar - 1/4 item
- Cup milk - 3/4 item
- Cup flour - 2 item
- enough apple to cover dough - 1 item
How to make apple rolls:
Sift and measure flour, salt, sugar and baking powder. Cut the shortening into the flour mixture until it resembles a coarse meal. Add milk and stir with fork until stiff dough is formed. Turn onto lightly floured board and knead 20 seconds to shape. Roll dough lightly 1/2 inch thick into a rectangular shape.Place chopped apples on top of sough and sprinkle with brown sugar and cinnamon. Dot with butter. Roll up like a jelly roll. Slice about 1 inch slices. Place cut side down on greased pan. pour syrup consisting of sugar and ice water over dough. Bake at 450 for 30 minutes or until apples are soft.
