Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 1 c
- eggs - 2 item
- vanilla - 1 tsp
- milk - 2 Tbsp
- salt - 1/4 tsp
- flour - 2 c
- water - 1 Tbsp
- baking powder - 2 tsp
- melted butter - 2 Tbsp
- shortening - 1/2 c
- nuts - 1/4 c
- finely chopped apples do not peel - 1 c
- Add salt, vanilla and eggs; beat well
How to make apple bread:
Cream shortening; add sugar and cream until light and fluffy. Add salt, vanilla and eggs; beat well. Add milk, apples and nuts. Mix well. Add flour and baking powder which have been sifted together. Blend. Pour batter into well-greased 9 x 5-inch loaf pan. Bake at 350° for 50 to 60 minutes. Cool. Remove from pan. Pour glaze over bread, letting it drip down the sides.Glaze:1 1/2 c. sifted powdered sugar2 Tbsp. melted butter1 Tbsp. water Note: For better flavor and easier slicing, wrap bread tightly after glaze has dried and serve the following day (the Cookbook Committee).Recipe categories: Breads, Quick breads, Apple.
