Tamale pie
Ingredients/Components
- chopped onion - 1/2 c
- cloves garlic, minced - 2 item
- chili powder - 4 tsp
- grated cheese - 1 item
- salt and pepper to taste - 1 item
- olive oil - 2 Tbsp
- tomato sauce - 1 c
- pimentos
- cumin - 1/2 tsp
- chopped bell pepper - 1/2 c
- ground beef, cooked
How to make tamale pie:
Combine first 4 ingredients. Add ground beef, chili powder, cumin and salt and pepper to taste. Add green olives with pimentos and tomato sauce. Bring 1 1/2 quarts water to boil. When boiling, add 1 1/2 cups yellow cornmeal. Cook 5 minutes, stirring constantly. Pour half of cornmeal mixture into 9 x 13 baking dish sprayed with Pam. Add all of meat mixture, then put rest of cornmeal mix on top of meat. Sprinkle with grated cheese. Bake at 350° for 30 minutes.Recipe categories: Main dish, Casseroles, Beef.
