Rum cream pie
Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 3/4 c
- egg yolks - 5 item
- cold water - 1/2 c
- cream - 3/4 c
- plain gelatin
- dark rum or to taste - 3 Tbsp
- 10-inch crumb pie shell
How to make rum cream pie:
Beat egg yolks until light; add sugar. Soak gelatin in cold water; put over low heat until dissolved. Pour over sugar and egg mixture, stirring briskly. Whip cream until stiff; fold into the egg mixture and flavor with rum. Cool until the mixture begins to set, then pour into pie shell. Chill until firm. Sprinkle top generously with shaved bittersweet chocolate curls. Garnish with whipped cream, if desired. Serve cold. Yields 1 pie.Recipe categories: Desserts, Pies and tarts, Egg.
