Ingredients/Components
- sugar
- salt - 1/4 tsp
- chopped nuts - 1/2 c
- flour
- brown sugar - 1 c
- cornstarch
- water - 1/4 c
- baking soda - 1/2 tsp
- shortening - 1 c
- oatmeal
- rhubarb - 3 4
How to make rhubarb bars:
Filling:2 Tbsp. cornstarch3 to 4 c. rhubarb1/4 c. water1 1/2 c. sugar Combine oatmeal, flour, brown sugar, shortening, soda, salt and nuts. Press 1/2 to 2/3 mixture into bottom of 9 x 13 pan. Mix cornstarch and water. Add rhubarb and sugar. Cook until thick. Spread over crust. Sprinkle with reserved topping and bake at 350° for 30 to 35 minutes.Recipe categories: Desserts, Cookie and brownie, Bar cookie.
