Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 1 c
- vanilla - 1/2 1
- milk - 3/4 c
- salt - 1/2 tsp
- flour - 2 c
- baking powder - 2 tsp
- egg - 1 item
- hot water - 1 c
- oleo - 1/4 c
- to 6 large apples - 5 item
- Peel, core and slice apples into the bottom of an 8 x 8-inch pan, sprinkle 1/4 to 1/2 cup sugar or top
How to make one egg cake:
Note: You can use any other kind of fruit if you wish.Peel, core and slice apples into the bottom of an 8 x 8-inch pan, sprinkle 1/4 to 1/2 cup sugar or top. Set aside. In a large bowl, blend sugar, oleo and egg. Add dry ingredients alternating with milk. Spread evenly over apples. Bake at 350° until cake is golden brown and toothpick comes out clean. Serve warm with milk or Pudding Sauce. Makes 6 servings. A family favorite for 4 generations.Pudding Sauce:2 Tbsp. butter, melted2 Tbsp. flour1 c. hot water3 Tbsp. sugar1/2 to 1 tsp. vanilla In a saucepan, melt butter. Add flour and stir in hot water. Cook like gravy. Remove from heat. Add sugar and vanilla to taste. Serve warm over One Egg Cake.
