Oatmeal cookies

Ingredients/Components

• vanilla - 1 tsp
• granulated sugar - 1/2 c
• salt - 1 tsp
• water - 1/4 c
• soda - 1/2 tsp
• egg - 1 item
• shortening - 3/4 c
• firmly packed brown sugar - 1 c
• dash of salt - 1 item
• plain flour - 1 c
• hot water - 1/4 c
• instant coffee - 1/4 tsp
• oatmeal, uncooked - 3 c
• stick margarine, softened - 1 item
• Sift together flour, salt and soda

How to make oatmeal cookies:

Beat shortening, sugar, egg, water and vanilla together until creamy. Sift together flour, salt and soda. Add to creamed mixture. Blend well. Drop by teaspoonfuls onto greased cookie sheet. Bake in preheated oven at 325° for 12 to 15 minutes.

You can add raisins or chopped nuts.Oatmeal Filling:1 box confectioners sugar1 stick margarine, softened1/4 tsp. instant coffee dash of salt1/4 c. hot water Mix confectioners sugar and margarine. Put instant coffee in about 1/4 cup hot water to dissolve it. Mix in a dash of salt. You can use milk instead of coffee. Spread between oatmeal cookies.
