Ingredients/Components
- bourbon
- shaved ice - 1 item
- fresh spearmint leaves, lightly rinsed and drained - 20 item
- sprigs fresh spearmint - 6 item
- simple syrup * - 3/4 oz
How to make mint julep:
*Made of 2 cups sugar and 1 cup water, boiled 3 minutes and chilled.Muddle or crush 10 mint leaves in the bottom of a julep cup or any 14 or 16 ounce glass. Fill cup half full with shaved ice. Muddle remaining leaves and arrange in a layer over crushed ice. Fill the remainder of the cup with shaved ice. Place the mint sprigs to one side of the cup to form a small bouquet. Combine the simple syrup with the bourbon. Mix well. Pour into the prepared cup. Serve with a straw. Serves one.
