German chocolate pie
Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 1/2 c
- vanilla - 1 tsp
- chopped pecans - 1/2 c
- pkg - 1 oz
- salt - 1/8 tsp
- water - 3 Tbsp
- egg whites - 2 item
- cream of tartar - 1/8 tsp
- Filling:1 bar German sweet chocolate
How to make german chocolate pie:
Filling:1 bar German sweet chocolate3 Tbsp. water1 tsp. vanilla1 (8 oz.) pkg. Cool Whip Crust: Beat egg whites with cream of tartar and salt until foamy. Add 1/2 cup sugar, 2 tablespoons at a time, beating well after each addition until stiff. Fold in vanilla and pecans.Place in a lightly greased 9-inch pie pan, spreading out like a pie shell. Bake at 300° for 50 to 55 minutes. Remove and let cool.
Filling: Melt bar of chocolate with water in top of double boiler. Stir in vanilla. Cool. Fold in Cool Whip. Pour in cool pie shell. Chill at least 2 hours before serving.
