  • vanilla - 3 tsp
  • milk - 1 c
  • chopped nuts - 1 c
  • flour - 3 c
  • butter - 1 c
  • baking soda - 1/2 1
  • pinch of salt - 1 item
  • shortening - 1/2 c
  • dark brown sugar - 1 lb
  • large eggs - 5 item

How to make brown sugar pound cake:

Cream shortening and butter. Add sugar and cream well. Break in 1 egg at a time. Add sifted dry ingredients alternately with milk and add vanilla and nuts. Pour in greased and floured pan. Bake at 325° for 1 hour and 30 minutes or until done.
