Beef stroganoff
Ingredients/Components
- beef sirloin - 1 lb
- flour - 1 Tbsp
- salt - 1/2 tsp
- butter - 2 Tbsp
- can sliced mushrooms, drained - 3 oz
- chopped onion - 1/2 c
- clove crushed garlic - 1 item
- tomato paste - 1 Tbsp
- beef stock or 1 10 1/2 oz
- dairy sour cream - 1 c
- dry white wine optional - 2 Tbsp
How to make beef stroganoff:
Cut beef sirloin in 1/4-inch strips. Coat meat with mixture of 1 tablespoon flour and salt. Heat cooking utensil over direct heat. Then add 2 tablespoons butter. When melted, cook sirloin strips quickly until brown on all sides. Add sliced mushrooms, onion and garlic. Cook 3 or 4 minutes until onion is crisp-tender. Remove from pan.Add to pan drippings 2 tablespoons butter and and blend in 3 tablespoons flour and tomato paste. Stir in beef stock or beef broth. Cook and stir over medium heat until thick and bubbly. Return meat and mushrooms and onion to skillet. Stir in sour cream and dry white wine and cook slowly until heated through. Do not boil. Serve over hot noodles.
