Refrigerator coleslaw
Ingredients/Components
- sugar
- water - 1/2 c
- vinegar - 1 c
- pepper - 1/8 tsp
- onion, chopped - 1 item
- celery seed
- stalks celery, cut fine - 2 item
- large heads cabbage, shredded - 2 item
- to 4 carrots, grated - 3 item
How to make refrigerator coleslaw:
Dressing:1 1/2 c. sugar1/2 c. water1 c. vinegar1/8 tsp. pepper1 1/2 tsp. celery seed Sprinkle vegetables generously with salt. Set aside while preparing dressing. Before adding dressing, squeeze dry.Dressing: Combine ingredients in a saucepan; bring to a boil. Remove from heat. When cool, add to cabbage mixture; mix well. Can be made in large amounts and stored in refrigerator or freezer. Keeps in refrigerator for several weeks!
